Centre sanctions Rs 1445 crore for Mumbai water management

New Delhi, Nov 30 (UNI) The Centre has sanctioned Rs 1445 crore for water supply management in Mumbai under the Jawaharlal Nehru Urban Development plan, Urban Development Minister Jaipal Reddy said in the Rajya Sabha today.

Of this amount, 17.5 per cent is meant for improving drainage, 28.8 percent for storage and 38 per cent for drinking water supply.

Referring to the frequent flooding in Mumbai during Monsoons, the Minister said during the Question Hour that all these concerns had been ''taken on board'' while forming the scheme and allotting funds.

''We are taking care of all metro cities,'' he said in reply to a question.
