Centre not to scrap inner line regulation in NE
Aizawl, Nov 30 (UNI) Mizoram home department officials today said the Union Home ministry has kept the proposal of scrapping Inner Line Permit (ILP) regulation pending in tribal dominated areas of North East.
State home department officials here said the home affairs ministry is unlikely to approve relaxation of regulations for foreign and domestic tourists in some parts of the region.
'' The Centre has initiated the proposal to relax both Restricted Area Permit (RAP) and ILP from the region to promote tourism in NE,'' officials said.
The officials also pointed out that the state government had been opposing the plan of relaxation of ILP since long, adding that it would flood the state with outsiders.
