Center, NEC stresses on setting up bamboo based industry

Agartala, Nov 30 (UNI) Both the Centre and the North Eastern Council (NEC) have stressed the importance of setting up of bamboo based industry in Tripura, famous for producing various type of bamboo products.

Efforts were taken to prepare cane and bamboo based industries to create infrastructure and strengthen the financial condition of the people staying in remote areas in this state utilising the forest wealth.

An eight day long cane and bamboo festival and exhibition will be held here from December 16, keeping in view about the setting up of forest wealth based industries. The festival and exhibition will be organised jointly by the state government and the Cane and Bamboo Technology Centre.

All the N E states including Sikkim are expected to take part.
