BJP supports 12-hour "Bangla Bandh" tomorrow
Kolkata, Nov 30 (UNI) West Bengal BJP has extended ''full support'' to Trinamool Congress-sponsored 12-hour ''Bangla Bandh'', tomorrow protesting alleged growing police atrocities against the Opposition in the state.
Expressing the party's solidarity with the Trinamool Congress, its electoral partner, state BJP President Sukumar Banerjee, who had assumed the new charge last week, criticised the ruling Left Front for resorting to ''fascism'' while dealing with the Opposition.
Issuing a statement following AITC's decision to call a 12-hour bandh tomorrow, Mr Banerjee also demanded immediate resignation of Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacherjee, and asked the party workers to actively support the bandh.
However, on the contrary and as expected All India Trade Union Congress (AITUC) has recorded its strongest opposition towards the bandh.
