New Delhi, Nov 30 (UNI) Key witness in the Nitish Katara murder case Bharti Yadav has denied any courtship with the deceased in her deposition before the Additional Sessions Court, according to her lawyer Subhash Bhuttan.

Speaking to mediapersons today, Mr Bhuttan said Bharti's deposition was ''neutral'' and neither in favour of brother Vikas Yadav nor Nitish. Bharti accepted Nitish only as a good friend and nothing else.

''Bharti was categorical that marriage with Nitish was not in her mind,'' he claimed.

According to the lawyer, Bharti denied almost everything implicating her brother Vikas Yadav in the case.

For example, she denied having ever made desperate phone calls or sent e-mails to Neelam Katara to search Nitish. However, only joint bank account with Nitish stands out as an exception.

Even her statement under Section 161 claimed by the police as crucial was described by Bharti as some of the loose strands selectively picked up from a conversation.

It is not yet clear whether the prosecution cross-examined Bharti Yadav over the reported change from earlier stand.
