AG Punjab to meet AG Bihar in final

Chandigarh, Nov 30 (UNI) Strong contenders AG Punjab defeated Delhi Audit by 2-1 in a hard-fought semifinal of the All India Inter Zonal Indian Audit and Accounts Department (IA&AD) Hockey Tournament here today.

It was Delhi Audit who drew the first blood moved in fifth minute when Jagminder Singh converted a penalty corner. AG neutralised the lead through Vikram Saini in a solo effort pierced the Delhi Audit to score in the 23rd minute. The teams shared two goals in the first half.

AG Punjab snatched the match-winner in the 49th minute when Inderjit Singh sounded the board with a sizzling penalty corner shot.

In the second semi final, AG Bihar eked out a narrow 1-0 triumph over AG AP. AG Bihar threatened their rivals in the third minute but Yakub failed to convert a penalty corner they were awarded.

Maintaining pressure AG Bihar struck the match-winner in the 41st minute when Xavier Gidh converted a penalty corner with a hot shot.

AG Punjab will take on AG Bihar in the final match tomorrow.
