About 6000 children participate in anti-AIDS walk
New Delhi, Nov 30 (UNI) On the eve of the 18th World AIDS day, an estimated 6,000 children and people today participated in ''Twilight Glow Walk'' here to celebrate the spirit of millions of HIV positive people around the globe.
The walk, organised by non-governmental organisation Plan India in association with UNAIDS and UN Office on Drugs and Crime, was followed by a performance of the Indian Ocean.
''HIV/AIDS is not a lost battle... It is just asking for a cohesive and organised effort from forces and common people like us across the world,'' Plan Executive Director Bhagyashri Dengle said.
''Plan India is proud and heartened to be at the forefront of this endeavour and to be able to do our bit for the well being of the human race especially children who are the victims of stigma and discrimination,'' she added.
Delhi Health Minister Yoganand Shastri flagged off the walk.
