104 sugar mills start crushing in UP

Lucknow, Nov 30 (UNI) At least 104 sugar mills have started the crushing of sugarcane in Uttar Pradesh till date.

State sugarcane commissioner K L Meena said here today that last year only 93 sugar mills had started crushing by this time.

Of the 104 mills, 14, 24 and 66 units belong to the state sugar corporation, state sugar federation and the private sector respectively, Mr Meena informed.

The crushing season had kicked off in the first week of October.
