Vijaya Bank hands over dividend to govt
Vijayawada, Nov 29 (UNI) Vijaya Bank Chairman and Managing Director Prakash P Mallya today handed over a cheque for Rs 23.35 crore to Union Finance Minister P Chidambaram, in New Delhi towards interim-dividend of 10 per cent on the government's shareholding in the bank.
According to its Regional Manager Sadananda Hegde, the bank in its platinum jubilee year had posted a net profit of Rs 174.96 crore during the half year ended September 2006, registering a growth of 70.51 per cent against the corresponding period last year.
Buoyed by this good performance, the Bank had announced an interim- dividend of 10 per cent to its shareholders, Mr Hegde added.
