Srinagar, Nov 29 (UNI) The Jammu and Kashmir Vigilance Organisation today charge-sheeted two revenue officials who were caught while accepting bribe.
A vigilance spokesman said charge sheets were produced against Abdul Qayoom Lone, a dealing assistant in the Naib Tehsildar office at Kunzar, Tangmarg and Om Parkash, the then Patwari of Pamote in Udhampur district.
On March 27 this year, Manzoor Ahmad Hajam, a resident of Nadirgund, Khahipora, Tangmarg lodged a complaint, alleging Lone was demanding illegal gratification of Rs 700 in lieu of processing the case for issuance of a social caste certificate.
A case was registered and investigations launched, he said, adding the vigilance sleuths were deputed and a trap laid. The dealing assistant was caught red handed while accepting Rs 700 as bribe, the spokesman said.
After completion of the investigations and accord of sanction for prosecution by the state government, a charge-sheet was produced in the court of law. The next date of hearing has been fixed for February 5 next year, he added.
In another case, the spokesman said Tej Ram, a resident of Miyari Pamote Tehsil in Udhampur district, lodged a complaint on July 10 this year, alleging that Om Parkash was demanding Rs 2000 as bribe for providing the demarcation report and other documents.
A case was registered and investigations taken up. The vigilance sleuths then laid a trap and caught the official red handed while accepting Rs 2000 as illegal gratification from the complainant.
The next date of hearing has been fixed on January 4 next year.
