Soren admitted in AIIMS after guilty verdict in murder case
New Delhi, Nov 28 (UNI) After being convicted in the 1994 murder case of his assistant, Union Coal Minister Shibun Soren complained of chest pain and was admitted to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) here tonight.
Mr Soren, who was immediately taken into judicial custody after the guilty verdict, was admitted to the cardiology department of the institute at about 2230 hrs.
Doctors attending on him said extensive medical test will be carried out on him tomorrow and till then he will be kept under observation. He was present in the court when the verdict was delivered.
A city court today pronounced Mr Soren guilty of conspiracy in the kidnap and murder of his former private secretary Shashi Nath Jha twelve years ago.
Prime Minister Manmohan Singh asked Mr Soren to resign from the Union Cabinet after the verdict was announced.
Additional Sessions Judge B R Kedia found Mr Soren, who is also chief of the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha, guilty of kidnapping and hatching the conspiracy to kill his secretary.
The court fixed November 30 for hearing the arguments on the quantum of sentence.
