Small car project shall be implemented : Bhattacharjee
Kolkata, Nov 29 (UNI) West Bengal Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee today said the government was determined to push through all opposition to set up the Tatas' small car factory at Singur.
'' Whatever be the opposition, industry will be set up at Singur.
No force can block it,'' he told the state Assembly while replying to discussions on a Trinamool Congress-sponsored non-official motion.
Criticising the Trinamool Congress for launching movement against the industrialisation move of the Left Front government, the Chief Minister appealed to the Opposition to extend cooperation.
Referring to the allegation of police atrocities on those opposing the small car project on fertile land, Mr Bhattacharjee said the government need not resort to oppression with the help of the police and the administration to tame any opposition movement.
This was the second time that the Chief Minister asserted in the Assembly that the Tatas' project would be implemented as scheduled.
He had also informed the House that altogether 913 acres out of a total 998 acres of required land had already been willingly handed over by farmers of Singur to the administration.
