Shibu Soren's condition stable

New Delhi, Nov 29 (UNI) The condition of former Union Coal Minister Shibu Soren, who was admitted to AIIMS cardiology department late last night after his conviction in a 1994 murder cases, is stable.

''He is stable and there is nothing to worry about. Extensive cardiac tests are being carried out on him,'' AIIMS Medical Superintendent Dr D K Sharma told UNI.

Dr Sharma said Soren is under observation and the reports of his medical tests are expected to come soon.

Soren, who was taken into judicial custody immediately after the verdict, was admitted to the coronary care unit (CCU) of the Cardiology department last night after he complained of chest pain in the court complex.

He resigned from the Union Cabinet after Prime Minister Manmohan Singh asked him to put in his papers.

A city court yesterday pronounced Soren guilty of conspiracy in the kidnap and murder of his private secretary Shashinath Jha 12 years ago.

Additional Sessions Judge B R Kedia found Soren, who is also chief of the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha, guilty of kidnapping and hatching the conspiracy to kill his secretary.

The court fixed November 30 for hearing the arguments on the quantum of sentence.
