RPI activists stage Rasta Roko on Eastern Express Highway
Mumbai, Nov 29 (UNI) Activists of the Republican Party of India (RPI) today staged a 'Rasta Roko' on the busy Eastern Express Highway, damaging a bus and several vehicles near Chheda Nagar to protest the massacre of four members of a Dalit family in Khairlanji village in September.
The RPI activists also staged 'rasta roko' near Suman Nagar on the Highway at around 1500 hrs, leading to a massive traffic jam on both sides.
Police sources said traffic was restored after about 20 minutes.
Bandobast has been beefed up in the eastern suburbs.
Dalit groups also tried to take out a rally from Chaitya Bhoomi, Dadar to Azad Maidan this afternoon, but it was foiled by police.
Later, the activists were detained by police at Chaitya Bhoomi.
