Puducherry CM not fulfilling promises: MLA alleges
Puducherry, Nov 29 (UNI) AIADMK state secretary A Anbazhagan MLA today alleged that Puducherry Chief Minister N Rangasamy failed to fulfil the promises given on the floor of the territorial assembly and demanded his resignation.
Addressing a press conference here today, Mr Anbazhagan said the Chief Minister in his budget speech had announced several schemes including the enhancement of the financial assistance under the Kamaraj Housing Scheme to Rs one lakh and financial assistance of Rs 2.30 lakh for house construction to tsunami victims. However, none of the promises were fulfilled so far, the MLA added.
Mr Rangasamy said the Lt Governor was not accepting some of the schemes and hence he could not implement the financial assistance.
He said he had written a letter to the Chief Election Commissioner of India requesting him to direct the election officials to enroll the name of people in the voters list by accepting the documents shown by them, including their ration cards.
More than one lakh voters were deleted from the list in a revision process three years back, to ensure 100 per cent photo identity cards in Puducherry. The officals deleted the names without a proper enquiry and now the left out were not being given a chance to enroll their names in the list, he alleged.
