Pondy municipality gets new logo

Puducherry,Nov 29 (UNI) A new logo for the Ozhukarai Municipality was today introduced by its Chairman N S J Jayapal at its fourth meeting here today.

In his address, Mr Jayapal said the designer of the logo, Mr Suresh, an art lecturer of the Bharathiyar Plakalikoodam, will be given a cash prize of Rs 5,000.

The Ozhukarai Municipality received a meagre Rs 12.04 crore during 2006-07. An additional Rs eight crore which had been sought to lay roads was yet to be received.

He also said Rs 42.77 crore for 2007-08 and Rs 133.31 crore for the XI Five Year Plan period was sought.

As many as 63 resolutions, including the one imposing a fine of Rs five on households which threw garbage on road, were passed.
