PGVCL officials unearth power theft worth Rs 15 lakh

Jamnagar, Gujarat, Nov 29 (UNI) In an anti-power theft drive, the officials of the Paschim Gujarat Vidhyut Company Limited (PGVCL) today unearthed a power theft by motels involving an amount of Rs 15 lakh.

According to PGVCL sources, during a mass raiding operation, conducted by its 37 teams, they found large number of power thefts and irrgularities at the highway-side hotels.

The raiding teams, assisted by local police commandos, had checked 159 connections and found that 28 of them were using power theft techniques, which were assessed at Rs 15 lakh by the PGVCL officials.

Cases have been registered against the erring hoteliers and further legal and punitive action will be initiated soon, sources added.
