Patna-New Delhi Shramjivi Express blast case hearing on Dec 6

Jaunpur, Nov 29 (UNI) A local court today posted the hearing of the Patna-New Delhi Shramjivi Express bomb blast case to December 6.

The blast on July 28, 2005 near Singramau railway station here had killed 14 passengers and wounded 90 others.

Earlier, the accused Obaid-ur-Rehman, Hilal-ud-din and Nafikul were produced before District and Sessions Judge (III) Rajendra Chandra under tight security, who remanded them in judicial custody till the next hearing date.

Meanwhile, witnesses Rajesh Kumar and Ranjit of Sakshi Vihar, Nalanda (Bihar) failed to appear before the court.

On November 22, the court had issued bailable warrants of Rs 5,000 each against them.

The court issued fresh bailable warrants against the duo to appear on December 6. Government Railway Police (GRP) Jaunpur Station Officer Rajaram Shastri has also been summoned.

The judge also rejected the application of the accused for hearing the case on a daily basis.

On July 24, the court had fixed charges under CrPC sections 148, 307, 302 and 120 B, Explosive Substance Act section 3/4, Railway Act section 150, 151 and Foreigners Act section 14 in the case.

Two other accused Mohd Sharif alias Sirajuddin of Bangladesh and Mohd Roni are absconding, while Dr Sayeed is yet to be traced.

Another accused Ghulam Rajdani alias Pahiya was killed in a police encounter.

In May, Hilal-ud-din and Nafikul were brought from Cherallapalli Central Jail, Andhra Pradesh under a warrant, while Obaid-ur-Rehman, a Bangladeshi, was brought here from Murshidabad, West Bengal.
