Ornaments worth Rs 3 lakh stolen from temple in TN
Kumabokonam, Tamil Nadu, Nov 29 (UNI) Gold and silver ornaments and brass vessels worth about Rs three lakh were found stolen from the famed Srinivasa perumal temple at Nochiyarkoil near here.
According to police, the priests found the locks of the shrine broken and ornaments of goddess Manjulavalli missing last evening.
They immediately informed about the theft to the temple executive officer.
Temple sources said the thieves might have hidden inside the temple and stole the ornaments by breaking open the locks of the sanctum sanctorum after pooja.
The temple is one of the 108 important Vaishnava shrine.
Police visited the temple and investigation was on.
