One-year-old child among 217 Haj pilgrims on day seven flight

Srinagar, Nov 29 (UNI) A one-year-old child was among 217 Haj pilgrims who left here for Jeddah in a special flight today.

The pilgrims, including 93 women, were seen off at the Srinagar airport by Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad, Haj and Auqaf Minister Peerzada Mohammad Sayeed besides several senior civil and police officials.

Yesterday, as many as 427 Haj pilgrims, including 168 women, left here for Jeddah in two special flights.

With this, a total of 2765 pilgrims from Jammu and Kashmir have so far proceeded to Jeddah to perform the Haj this year.

Only one Haj flight would be operated from today till December 9 when the additional 4000 pilgrims would be airlifted to Jeddah.

About 10,674 pilgrims would be able to perform the Haj this year as compared to 9,200 in 2005.
