Omar Abdullah is RSS show boy: Mehbooba

Srinagar, Nov 29: Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) President Mehbooba Mufti today accused her bete noire National Conference (NC) chief Omar Abdullah of being a ''RSS show boy'', alleging he was part of the same BJP-led NDA regime that carried out the Gujarat carnage in 2002 under the patronage Chief Minister Narendra Modi.

Addressing a public meeting at Thajiwara in Anantnag district of south Kashmir, she said the most glaring manifestation of the NC leadership's confusion and insincerity was depicted by their oft-changing statements about the PDP's self-rule formula.

''While in New Delhi and Jammu, they (NC leaders) portray it as an idea stolen from Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf and in Srinagar they revise the proposal projecting it as an RSS roadmap.

But, in between, they do not forget to claim that the self-rule is no different from their autonomy proposal,'' Ms Mufti alleged.

The PDP chief advised the NC leadership to reconcile their contradictions and stop taking the people for a ride.

''Abdullahs are known for sacrificing not only the public interest, but those of the party as well to grab power and remain stuck to it,'' she said.

For them (NC leaders), Ms Mufti said personal and family interests have always been supreme to those of the public and the party. ''What could be more ironic than the fact that even during his visit to Pakistan in March this year, Mr Abdullah (Omar) instead of highlighting the Kashmiri's plight, advocated the family cause,'' she claimed.
