NEC upset over unspent balance in Mizoram
Aizawl, Nov 29 (UNI) North Eastern Council (NEC) expressed concern over the unspent balance on the current projects in Mizoram.
Addressing a review meeting on funded projects here today, NEC Secretary H V Lalringa disclosed that Mizoram has 35.92 per cent balance on the account of NEC funded projects in the state.
He told the state government to be more quick on reducing the unspent balance before March next year.
Mr Lalringa urged all the departments of the state to submit the progress report on the projects so that the council could expedite the release of funds.
He also underlined that NEC has earmarked Rs 600 crore against development projects in the northeast, which is the highest ever allocation for the region.
"Out of the total Rs 600 crore about 57 per cent money has already been released and balance 43 per cent would be released within the current financial year", he said.
NEC secretary remarked that Mizoram is implementing the on-going projects well, however, it needs to improve the execution process.
Top officials from 16 different departments of the state government including various wings attached to the administration were attended the meeting besides, NEC advisors P K Deb and Binay Singh.
