Meditech International Exhibition to open on Dec 1

Bangalore, Nov 29 (UNI) 'Meditech International', an exhibition showcasing state-of-the-art medical equipments and technology would begin in the city from December one.

Briefing newspersons about the expo B P Mishra, CEO of Xihibitions and Konferences India, the organisors the event, said with India emerging as health-tech medical care destination, the market of medical equipment industry had also posted a steady growth.

The market, which was worth about 1.5 billion US Dollars, was growing at the rate of 4.7 per cent with 80 per cent of the equipment being imported.

He said the three-day event would witness participation from over 70 companies of international repute and over 5000 medical professionals. The expo had received good support from medical associations and speciality Doctors. The major companies like Siemens, Wipro, BPL, Philips, Transasia, B-Barun, Fisher and Paykel, Maquet and others will exhibit their medical equipments.

He said seminars on subjects like diabetes care, advances in joint replacement surgery and on kidney related problems would be held as part of the expo.

Group Capt.(retd) Y P Singh, Senior Manager (Marketing) of Hindustan Aeronautics Limited, who also spoke on the occasion. said HAL which was co-sponsoring the event would display its Helicopter Emergency Service to create awareness among the public about its Air Ambulance Service.

He said that HAL had launched its Helicopter Emergency Medical Service (Air Ambulance) recently and its Chetak Helicopter was specially designed to cater the medical service called 'Vayu Vahan'.

The Air ambulance helicopter was configured to deal with Emergency Medical Service role with one stretcher with life saving equipment so as to provide professional and timely medical care to the patient during his transportation to the hospital.

He said that the HAL will charge Rs 25,000 per hour and initially this service will be available only in Bangalore. HAL also had plans to introduce Dhruv Helicopter for the Air Ambulance service he said.
