M Mukundan bags Mathrubhumi award

Kozhikode, Nov 29 (UNI) Renowned Malayalam novelist and Kerala Sahitya Academy president M Mukundan has been chosen for the sixth Mathrubhumi literary award for his invaluable contribution to the field.

The award carrying Rs two lakh, a plaque and citation would be presented to him at a function here in December, Mathrubhumi Chairman and Managing Director M P Veerendra Kumar, MP, announced at a press meet here.

The exact date of the function would be announced as per the convenience of Mr Mukundan, he said.

Writers Thikkodiyan, Pala Narayanan Nair O V Vijayan, M T Vasudevan Nair and M V Devan had won the award earlier, he said.

Managing Editor P V Chandran and director M V Shreyams Kumar were also present at the press meet.
