Left call for statewide bandh on Dec 14

Ranchi, Nov 29 (UNI) The Left in Jharkhand has called for statewide bandh on December 14 in support of their 16-point charter of demands, including immediate holding of Panchayat elections.

The decision was taken today at a meeting of Coordination Committee of the Left parties comprising the CPI, CPI (M), Forward Bloc, RSP and Marxist Coordination Commmittee.

The Left had urged the Centre to form a regulatory body to put restriction on backdoor entry of Wall Mart, a US-based company and unfettered expansion of Reliance retail chain.

They said the proposed bandh had been organised to protest such steps and to protect lakhs of retail shop owners and their employees.
