Iraq PM Maliki leaves Baghdad for talks with Bush

Baghdad, Nov 29: Iraqi Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki left Baghdad today for talks with US President George W Bush in Amman, capital of neighbouring Jordan, the prime minister's office said in a statement.

''The two-day official visit ... will involve discussions on the political process in Iraq and the readiness of the Iraqi forces to take over security tasks from the Multi-National Force in the country,'' the statement read.

Maliki will be joined by Foreign Minister Hoshiyar Zebari, National Security Adviser Mowaffak al-Rubaie and a number of members of parliament.
