Hearing commpleted in election petition against Amarinder

Chandigarh, Nov 29 (UNI) The Punjab and Haryana High Court today completed the cross examination in a poll plea challenging the election of Punjab Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh to the Vidhan Sabha on grounds of corrupt practices among others.

Justice Satish Kumar Mittal is re-hearing the petition, by the Harkirat Singh of the Shiromani Akali Dal (Badal), on orders of the Supreme Court. The election petition had been dismissed by Justice Jasbir Singh of the high Court last year.

The petitioner, a voter from the Patiala Town constituency from where Capt Amarinder Singh won during assembly polls in 2002, had moved the apex court which remanded it back to the High Court for re-hearing.

The case has now been adjourned to December 6.
