Haryana boys reign supreme in wrestling
Ferozepur, Nov 29: Haryana boys struck a goldmine in wrestling, capturing four gold out of five at stake in the inaugural National Inter-School Champions Games being conducted by the Punjab Sports Department at the Shaheed Bhagat Singh Stadium here.
For them, Sandeep won gold in 32 kg, Vikas in 38 kg, Jaideep in 42 kg and Amit in 48 kg. Haryana also bagged a silver medal as Sandeep finished runner-up in 35 kg class.
Maharashtra boys got one gold, three silver and one bronze medals. Hosts Punjab pocketed one silver and four bronze medals.
Mizoram got five bronze medals.
Results: WRESTLING (Boys) 32 kg: 1 Sandeep (Haryana), 2 Vikram Rooprai (Maharashtra), 3 Gurpreet Singh (Punjab) and Lal Ram (Mizoram ).
35 kg: 1 Nalesh Powar (Maharashtra), 2 Sandeep (Haryana), 3 Lal Ram (Mizoram ) and Jatinder (Punjab).
38 kg: 1 Vikas (Haryana), 2 Eknath V.M. (Maharashtra), 3 Bagicha Singh (Punjab) and Lal Ram ( Mizoram ).
42 kg: 1 Jaideep (Haryana), 2 Mansin S.S. (Maharashtra), 3 Satvir Singh (Punjab) and Lal Nath (Mizoram).
48 kg: 1 Amit (Haryana), 2 Maghar Singh (Punjab) , 3 Sharad Powar (Maharashtra) and R.T. Chalnunzira (Mizoram).
