Govt for overall development of Telangana: Rajasekhara
Karimnagar, Andhra Pradesh, Nov 29 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy today said the government was committed to overall development of Telangana region.
Addressing the election meetings, he appealed to the voters of Karimnagar parliamentary constituency to exercise their franchise in favour of party candidate T Jeevan Reddy in the coming bypoll.
He wanted them to vote for the ruling Congress for the effective implementation of developmental schemes.
Stating that the government was committed to solve the problems of beedi workers in the state, he said the All India Congress Committee (AICC) had made an official annoucement on protecting the interests of beedi workers.
Flaying the previous NDA Government and TDP for the issues concerning the beedi industry he said the Congress was committed to making neccessary changes in the Act to protect the interests of the beedi workers.
He said the Union Health Minister Ramadoss had assured to bring about changes before the notification comes into effect from February one, 2007.
The Union Labour Minister Oscar Fernandes had categorically stated that the pictoral warning of 'skull and bones' on the beedi packs would be removed by amending the Act if necessary, he added.
