Dalit workers indulge in violence over statue desecration

Nashik, Nov 29 (UNI) Activists of various Dalit organisations today set afire state corporation buses and indulged in stone throwing and arson to protest the desecration of the statue of Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar in Kanpur last night.

According to police, at least one bus was burnt.

Police reinforcements have been rushed to the busy Shalimar and Wadala areas, besides Deolali and Vidit villages, adjacent to Nashik.

All shops and business establishments in the area have been closed. Movement of heavy vehicles also has benn stopped.

Police said the situation was tense but under control.
