CPI-ML urges LB reps to join All India strike on Dec 14
Puducherry, Nov 29 (UNI) The Communist Party of India (Marxist-Leninist) in Puducherry today urged the elected representatives of the local bodies here to postpone their proposed bandh on December 12 and instead join the nationwide general strike on December 14.
Party secretary S Balasubramanian, addressing a press conference here, said two bandhs within a span of one day would not only hit the public hard but also lead to lukewarm response.
Mr Balasubramanian, who is also leader of the All India Central Council for Trade Unions (AICCTU) said the CPI(ML) National general secretary Swapan Mukerjee would inaugurate the fifth state convention of AICCTU here on December three.
Leaders of all trade unions would take part in the convention, which would discuss several issues, including the setting up of special economic zone here, ways and means to generate employment to urban youths and foreign direct investment, he added.
