Copper, zinc slab rises; nickel falls

Mumbai, Nov 29 (UNI) Copper and Zinc slabs today rose on improved demand, while nickel fell on account of poor industrial demand, even as the London Metal Exchange soared, traders at the Bombay Metal Exchange said.

In the ferrous section, copper heavy rose by Rs 500 per quintal due to increase of fresh demand.

In non-ferrous section, Zinc slab eased by Rs 300 per quintal on account of thin buying support.

Tin slab went up by Rs five per kg on improved demand while Nickel cathode declined by Rs 10 per kg on increased offer by stockists.

Following are the spot metal prices per quintal: Ferrous metals: Copper heavy - Rs 35,200, copper utensils - Rs 31,800, brass utensils - Rs 22,800, brass cuttings - Rs 27,000 and aluminium utensils - Rs 11,000.

Non-ferrous metals: Copper wire bars - Rs 38,500, Aluminium ingots - Rs 14,000, Zinc slab - Rs 24,500, Lead ingots - Rs 7,800, Tin slab - Rs 580 (per kg) and Nickel cathode - Rs 1,860 (per kg).
