Col George Thomas assumes office

Tiruchirapalli, Nov 29 (UNI) Colonel George Thomas has assumed office as the Commanding Officer of 117 Infantry Battalion (Territorial Army) The Guards, here.

A press release from the Infantry Battalion today said a 1975 batch Commissioned Officer, Colonel Thomas had earlier commanded the elite 10 Guards and 125 Infantry Battalion (Territorial Army) The Guards, Secunderabad.

An alumnus of the Indian Military Academy, he had successfully completed various command and staff appointments in high altitude, counter insurgency, desert terrain and Kargil operation.

Recently, he had commanded Provost Unit (Military Police) in Jammu and Kashmir, the release added.
