Chouhan against wife entering poll fray
Bhopal, Nov 29 (UNI) Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan today said that he was against his wife Sadhna Singh entering electoral politics as he did not favour ''dynastic'' politics.
''She could have been the best candidate for the recently-concluded Vidisha Lok Sabha bypoll. Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) workers were desirous that she be fielded and even the state election committee nominated her,'' he told UNI here in an interview marking the completion of his first year in office.
Claiming that he did not give the proposal his nod on moral grounds, the chief minister added that his wife also had scant interest in electoral politics.
''However, she will remain active in public welfare work without indulging in votebank politics,'' he said.
When asked about the youthful state Public Relations Minister Narendra Singh Tomar being bestowed the responsibility of Madhya Pradesh BJP president and he himself being a youthful chief minister, Mr Chouhan felt that a youthful leadership would definitely pay rich dividends during the hustings.
''A positive thing in the BJP is that youthful leadership is given an unbridled opportunity to develop. The senior rung has been blessing and guiding the young leadership. This is possible only in our party,'' he claimed.
