Cartoon Network to realise TV experience
New Delhi, Nov 29: As various cool and cutting edge shows on different cartoon channels excite the imagination of kids across the country, there is an increasing attempt by the channels to translate the ''onscreen'' excitement into the realm of reality to enable the children to experience first hand the ''adrenaline flow'' of the characters on the TV show.
On one such occasion, the Cartoon Network organised in the Capital on Sunday a 'Game On Video Gaming' Championship aimed at taking its revamped and rejuvenated franchise, 'Toonami', beyond the realms of television and providing kids with an opportunity to personally experience the excitement.
About 2000 kids from all over the capital, selected through on-air contests and school contact programmes, competed against each other for the title of the 'Game on Video Gaming' Championship held at NSIC Exhibition Centre, Okhla.
It was an exciting and rewarding experience for these gaming enthusiasts as 20 batches of 100 kids competed against each other across 50 Xbox 360 consoles and tested their skills at PGR, the racing game. Each round was followed by eliminations and winners of each batch competed with the winners of the previous batch.
Finally it was Akul Sachdev from Army Public School, Dhaula Kuan who emerged the first winner of the 'Toonami Game On, Video Gaming Championship', taking home Microsoft's latest gaming phenomenon, the XBox 360 and a Cartoon Network trophy.
All the participants took home loads of exciting gifts from Cartoon Network.
The championship was a continuation of Cartoon Network's efforts to popularise its shows through successful, innovative, and integrated on-ground events.
In the past also, the channel has been organising events like 'Hojaye Shuru - The Beyblade Championship', 'Join The Powerpuff Generation', 'Toon Cricket', 'Toon Yatra', 'Next Big Toon', 'School Is Cool' and 'Save Dexter's Brain, all of which have sought to bring for the kids the television experience into the realm of reality.
