BSP workers on rampage over desecration of Ambedkar's statue
Kanpur, Nov 29 (UNI) Irate BSP activists went on a rampage today blocking roads and burning Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav in effigy to protest the desecration of a statue of Babasaheb Bhim Rao Ambedkar in Kakadeo area here last night.
The statue, in front of Kulwanti Hospital, was found vandalised and disfigured this morning by locals.
Getting the information, a large number of BSP activists gathered at the spot and later blocked the road. They also burnt the effigy of the Chief Minister.
The mob relented only after the district administration installed a new statue at it place.
Meanwhile, the police had registered a case against unidentified miscreants for the desecration of the statue.
The situation was said to be peaceful now.
