Asom govt faces flak for 'non-performance'

Guwahati, Nov 28 (UNI) The Tarun Gogoi led Congress dispensation in Asom today admitted that they had not achieved much during their second term in office, even as the opposition bayed for their blood alleged complete disintegration of the government.

''The first six months of the new government have been a little rough and this is mainly because of some financial problems,'' admitted government spokesman and Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sharma.

''This will be ironed out in the winter session of the Assembly.

Besides, a force, which did not like us to return to power, has been highlighting more about our failure than success. Wait for a year.

We will bounce back,'' he said while talking to newsmen.

With daily reports of bombings, lathicharge and clashes between ministers and MPs of the ruling party, the Congress now finds itself in a tight spot.

''It is wrong to perceive that our government is soft. We are taking action. But a section has been deliberately spreading the misinformation,'' Dr Sharma clarified.

But the main opposition Asom Gana Parishad is not impressed. Last night it demanded the resignation of Congress-led coalition government in the state for its 'abject failure' in addressing the multi-dimensional problems and tackling growing restiveness among the people over various issues.
