Wipro to scale up size of acquisitions globally

New Delhi, Nov 28: Wipro will scale up the size of its global acquisitions to 50-100 million dollars from the present 25-50 million dollar deals, Chairman Azim Premji said today.

''We will be scaling up the size of acquisitions globally. I, however, doubt that it will touch the one billion dollar mark because at the end of the day IT acquisitions mean absorbing the workforce. It does not make sense to pay billion dollars for the same,'' he said while addressing the India Economic summit here.

Citing that Wipro acquired six companies-- three in the US and Europe each-- in the last nine months, which were strategic to the company's growth, Mr Premji indicated that his company would follow the same principle in future.
