UDF files petition seeking outside force for bypoll

Kochi, Nov 28 (UNI) The Opposition Congress-led United Democratic Front (UDF) today filed a petition in the Kerala High Court seeking to deploy forces other than Kerala Police for the peaceful conduct of the December four byelections to the Thiruvambadi Assembly segment.

Chairman of the UDF Election Committee Thiruvambadi, Aravindan , filed the petition seeking to deploy police force not under the control of state of Kerala.

He also sought to install sufficient numbers of video cameras in the polling booths.

Justice J B Koshy and Justice K Padmanabhan Nair posted the case for November 30 and also directed the counsel for the State and Election Commissioner to get instructions.
