Trinamool stages walkout

Kolkata, Nov 28(UNI) The opposition Trinamool Congress walked out of the West Bengal Assembly today protesting the Speaker's refusal to allow a discussion on the alleged police atrocities on party supporters at Binpur in West Midnapore district.

Raising the issue in the House, Trinamool member Sonali Guha said police was harassing the party supporters and even misbehaving with women in the name of search operations after underground Maoists snatched guns from two policemen in the area.

She said the matter was of serious nature and normal proceedings of the House be stopped to take up discussion on the issue.

As Speaker Hashim Abdul Halim ignored Ms.Guha's demand, all the Trinamool members, present in the House walked out of the House.
