Top ULFA leader killed
Guwahati, Nov 28 (UNI) Top ULFA leader Lalit Moran was today shot dead by the Army in upper Asom.
Senior police official from Tinsukia district confirmed Moran's death. He was shot dead by the Army at around 0400 hours at Laidong Hatigarh of Asom's Tinsukia district.
Mr Moran was the self styled lance corporal of the 28th battalion, the strike force of the ULFA in Upper Asom. The incident occurred under the Pengeri police station. He was shot dead following an encounter with the jawans of the 19 Kumaon regiment.
The Army recovered an M20 pistol beside four round cartridges, one radio wireless set and one grenade from him.
This is the third major loss in succession for the ULFA which has been in upsurge and hitting the soft targets at will.
