Sri Ram Seva activists arrested
Udupi, Nov 28 (UNI) Sri Ram Seva activists were arrested by the Udupi police for blackening the name board of Nagarjuna Power Company Limited, which was setting up a coal-based thermal power plant in the district, here today.
Police said the activists gathered at the Mahatma Gandhi Chowk at the service bus stand here and blackened the board.
The arrested were later produced before a magistrate here.
Meanwhile, the survey and fencing work at the project site continued with heavy police protection. As a precautionary measure, the district administration had extended prohibitory orders under section 144 of CrPC, clamped in the area on November 17, till the midnight of December three.
