Shekhawat to inaugurate Agro Tech-2006 on Dec 1

Chandigarh, Nov 28: Vice President Bhairon Singh Shekhawat will inaugurate the Agro Tech-2006 here on December one.

The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), organiser of the event in a press released issued here yesterday announced that with the theme ''Technology in Agriculture: Growing Farmer Wealth'', the Agro Tech would showcase the latest in agricultural technology, products and allied services.

The event would also feature seven concurrent expos and five International Food and Agriculture conferences, covering different sectors of agriculture and related economy which are likely to spur agri-sector growth in the country, the release said.

World-renowned experts from Netherlands, Australia, Canada, Italy, Poland, Spain, Germany, China, South Africa, Wales and France are coming especially for the Agro Tech Conferences and would be making presentations on path-breaking technologies and processes.

From India, top officials of various leading companies and organisations would be participating in the conferences.

Apart from this, a number of Kisan ghostis' would be held in which new developments in food, agriculture and related fields would be discussed.

The Guests of honour would be Punjab Governor Gen S F Rodrigues (retd), Union Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar and Netherlands Ambassador Eric F Ch Niehe.
