Pranab, Rajapakse discuss peace process in Lanka
New Delhi, Nov 28 (UNI) External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee today called on visiting Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapakse and expressed the hope that there would be an early progress to the peace process in the Island Nation.
''Mr Mukherjee conveyed the hope that there would be early progress in the peace process so that all ethnic communities in Sri Lanka can live harmoniously and are able to achieve their aspirations,'' an External Affairs Ministry spokesman said.
The two leaders also held detailed discussions on India-Sri Lanka bilateral relations.
Thereafter, Mr Mukherjee held delegation-level talks with his Sri Lankan counterpart Mangala Samaraweera on all aspects of bilateral relations.
During the talks, several on-going economic projects between the two countries were also reviewed, the spokesman said.
According to sources, UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi also called on Mr Rajapakse.
