PM to inaugurate Disaster Management Congress tomorrow
New Delhi, Nov 28 (UNI) Prime Minister Manmohan Singh will inaugurate the First India Disaster Management Congress here tomorrow which would focusing on sharing ideas and experiences in the field of disaster management.
The objectives of the two-day Congress being organised by the National Institute of Disaster Management will be to serve as a platform for exchange of ideas and experience on various aspects of disaster management, facilitate discussion of disaster management-related issues in a common forum and formulate recommendations in an integrated manner.
It would help create a community of scholars, researchers and practitioners on disaster risk reduction and facilitate greater interaction and interface among various disciplines of research which would serve the cause of disaster risk mitigation in more than one way.
The congress will discuss a large number of themes involving many disciplines and subjects. This will be one of the largest such multi-disciplinary events organized any where in the world. It will draw more than 500 participants from all over the country including representatives of various Ministries and Departments of the Government of India, State Governments, research organizations and training institutions, government agencies, corporate sector and civil society organizations.
