Panchayat polls in MP

Bhopal, Nov 28 (UNI) The Madhya Pradesh Election Commission today announced the poll schedule for 2,476 vacant posts in three-tier panchayats and the Model Code of Conduct immediately came into effect.

The notification will be published on December 4. Polling and counting are both scheduled for December 27. The posts comprise district panchayats (2), janpad panchayats (20), sarpanchs (256) and panchs (2,198).

The election programme for civic bodies' chairpersons and corporators was also issued. December 11 is the last date for filing nomination papers and they may be withdrawn by December 14. Polling and counting will take place on December 27.
