No complacency for Australia, says Hussey

SYDNEY, Nov 28 (Reuters) Australia will not be complacent in any way following their crushing victory in the first Ashes test, batsman Mike Hussey said today.

Hussey said the hosts were impressed by England's fightback in the second innings and would not be taking anything for granted in the remaining four tests, starting in Adelaide on Friday.

''They showed a lot of fight and a lot of spirit which is what we expect from England,'' Hussey told reporters.

''I think it's great we played so well in this test but I'm expecting is for England to come out and play very, very, well in Adelaide and I'm expecting a very, very tough test match and so are all the guys.'' Hussey is well acquainted with young England spinner Monty Panesar, who was left of the team in Brisbane, having played with him at English county Northamptonshire.

''I was really impressed because he was such a young spinner, yet he knew his game and the importance of discipline in his bowling,'' said Hussey, who contributed 86 to Australia's huge first-innings score of 602 for nine declared.

''He had a good grasp of that from a very young age and I always thought he would get better and better tactically the more cricket he played,'' Hussey added.

The more experienced Ashley Giles was preferred to Panesar in Brisbane, a conservative decision based largely on Giles's superior batting ability which was widely criticised.

''Personally, I'm not bothered either way,'' Hussey said. ''I think they can both be tough when the conditions are right.

''Monty gets more overspin on the ball so he's more of an up and over bowler. Giles is more about keeping it tight and bowling into the rough and building pressure that way.'' REUTERS PM PM1333
