NCP to work for LDF candidate's victory: Muraleedharan
Thiruvananthapuram, Nov 28 (UNI) Asserting that the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) is still a partner of the Left Democratic Front (LDF) in Kerala, state President K Muraleedharan today said the party would work for the victory of the LDF candidate in the December 4 Thiruvambadi bypoll.
Participating at a meet-the-press programme here, he said political forces in the state could not shatter the NCP votes by making provocative statements against them.
''As the NCP is still a partner of the LDF, our goal is to ensure the victory of the LDF candidate and we would sincerely work to achieve the goal,'' he added.
On the CPI and RSP's objection for partering the NCP with the LDF, in the wake of the Democratic Indira Congress (Karunakaran) DIC(K) with the NCP, Mr Muraleedharan said he was not ready for any controversy on it as it would adversely affect the result of the LDF candidate.
On whether NCP would continue in the LDF, he asserted the NCP was with the LDF since its formation and it would never venture from the Front on its own. ''Let us wait till December 4 and my reaction will be disclosed after that,'' added Mr Muraleedharan.
On LDF's stand that it would not participate in an election campaign with NCP leaders, Mr Muraleedharan said the party would decide who should participate in the election campaign at Thiruvambadi.
