Maoists agree on arms management issue : Govt
Kathmandu, Nov 28 (UNI) The Nepal Government and the Maoists have finally agreed on management and monitoring of arms and armies belonging to the Maoists' and the Nepal Army.
The agreement was signed today after extended negotiations for the last few days in the presence of UN representatives.
The agreement was signed between the Nepalese Home Minister and government Talks Team Coordinator Krishna Prasad Sitaula, and the Maoist spokesperson and Maoists' talks team coordinator Krishna Bahadur Mahara.
The agreement details the modality of management of arms and armies of the Maoist People's Liberation Army and the Nepal Army. It also includes the process of monitoring the personnel of the PLA and the Nepal Army in their respective cantonments and barracks.
A copy of the signed agreement was handed over to Jan Eric Wilhemson, military advisor to Ian Martin, the personal representative of UN Secretary General to Nepal peace process.
Mr Martin, who is currently in New York will sign the agreement after looking into the legal and technical matters.
