Left, SP, JD(U) and BJD members stage walkout from LS on fuel prices
New Delhi, Nov 28 (UNI) The Left parties today joined hands with the opposition to demand that the UPA government immediately slash the prices of fuel and staged a walkout from the Lok Sabha when the government did not agree to their demand for a statement on the issue.
The members of the JD (U), Samajwadi Party and BJD also joined the walkout.
When the MPs insisted that the Chair direct the Minister to make a statement, Deputy Speaker Charnjit Singh Atwal expressed his inability to do so, on the plea that he could not compel the minister to do so.
CPI (M) leader Rupchand Pal, while seeking the immediate intervention of the government in the matter, said that the pteroleum ministry had already proposed to decrease the prices, but the government chose not to react.
However, the members came back soon to participate in the Matters of urgent Public Importance.
